Base Salary
$199k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy interoperable services that undergo conformance and integration testing with external systems and partners.
- Develop path-planning and airspace-deconfliction algorithms for safe and efficient routing through dynamic environments.
- Build tools to evaluate and optimize airspace efficiency and utilization.
- Integrate the deconfliction stack with DoorDash systems and translate mission and airspace status for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, commercial operations, and flight operations to deliver reliable real-world flight features.
- Represent DoorDash Air with peer companies, working groups, and standards bodies to improve industry interoperability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of full-lifecycle experience designing, building, deploying, and operating distributed systems in aviation, finance, communications, healthcare, or a similar high-uptime and interoperability-focused field.
- Experience building and shipping production services that interoperate with systems outside the candidate’s control and pass external or open-source conformance or certification testing.
- Hands-on experience with path planning, routing, or deconfliction in dynamic real-world environments, or strong fundamentals in graph search, optimization, or motion planning.
- Experience building evaluation and analysis tooling for system performance and efficiency.
- Ability to design integrations across organizational boundaries and explain technical system state to commercial, operations, and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and comfort representing work externally in standards groups, industry forums, or peer-company collaborations.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with C++, Python, Go, or similar languages, plus familiarity with real-time or fault-tolerant system design.
- Preferred experience with airspace management, air traffic control, or UAS traffic management concepts and systems.
- Preferred experience with technical standards bodies or open-source interoperability efforts.
- Preferred familiarity with certification-aware aerospace software processes such as DO-178 and ARP4761.
- Preferred experience with real-time or embedded systems or systems that degrade gracefully under partial failure.
