- Modify and extend the company’s forked Godot engine source to meet product and platform needs.
- Identify and resolve engine-level architectural and performance issues.
- Build reusable engine systems and tooling that improve gameplay-engineer and content-creator productivity.
- Solve cross-platform compatibility issues across web, desktop, Chromebooks, iPads, and mobile.
- Profile and optimize CPU, memory, and general runtime performance.
- Improve a large and evolving codebase, contribute to engineering practices, mentor engineers, and serve as a resource for engine and platform systems.
- Experiment with and adopt AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Strong professional C++ experience.
- 7+ years of experience with game engines, real-time systems, runtime infrastructure, platform technology, or other low-level systems.
- Direct experience modifying engine source code and shipping games or other real-time software products.
- Strong debugging and profiling skills, with an understanding of memory, CPU performance, threading, data layout, and systems-level constraints.
- Experience solving cross-platform issues and building reusable systems.
- Ability to reason about architecture and operate with significant autonomy.
