
Senior Software Engineer - Java, AVP
State StreetResponsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements, applications, and solutions.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex business and technical problems.
- Provide technical thought leadership for product architecture and guide design decisions beyond the immediate team.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers while elevating team capabilities and technical excellence.
- Direct problem solving for projects or major project phases involving advanced software technical issues.
- Develop using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related software engineering technologies.
- Conduct code reviews and provide critical analysis of proposed changes.
- Write unit and automation tests and improve development and test methodology frameworks.
- Establish and uphold quality standards across the software development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot large, mission-critical client implementations at an expert level.
- Lead Agile software development processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Plan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignments.
Requirements
- A minimum of 13 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign education equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required.
- Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Spring Boot microservices and service deployment in cloud environments.
- Understanding of microservice architectures and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge and experience with Kafka and message-based systems.
- Ideally, at least 6 years of financial services experience developing solutions for portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management.
- Deep expertise in object-oriented programming, relational databases, low-latency and high-performance systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery and improve code quality.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applications.
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop simple solutions to highly complex business and technical problems.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with peers.
- At least 5 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology.
