Responsibilities
- Build and run core Java microservices for Rates trade booking and trade storage.
- Own technical design, hands-on development, CI/CD, production readiness, and operational support for services.
- Design high-availability, high-throughput systems with strong consistency, resilience, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Implement gRPC/Protobuf service interfaces and streaming integrations such as HTTP SSE.
- Develop auditable transactional stores with trade versioning, traceability, access controls, data retention, and secure-by-design practices.
- Build lightweight UIs for trade enquiry, operational workflows, and exception handling.
- Improve engineering standards through design and code reviews, automation, observability, and incident learning.
- Mentor engineers and partner with Product Owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver clear user stories iteratively.
Requirements
- 7+ years of IT experience in Java development as an individual contributor and mentor.
- Strong senior-level Java backend and microservices experience with ownership of production systems.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, idempotency, failure handling, consistency models, and resilience patterns.
- Hands-on experience with gRPC, Protobuf, streaming patterns, PostgreSQL, API integrations, and transactional data stores.
- Experience with microservices architecture, Elasticsearch, ELK, Grafana, Kibana, and Prometheus.
- Exposure to message-driven architectures and technologies such as JMS, IBM MQ, Artemis, or Solace.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and cybersecurity tools including TeamCity, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, NexusIQ, and Checkmarx.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as Oracle or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of trade lifecycle, Straight Through Processing, and Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities products.
- Experience with high-frequency or low-latency coding and familiarity with Rust, Go, or Python.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, collaboration, and influencing skills.
