Base Salary
$172k - $237k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, and researchers as an embedded technical advisor to understand platform needs and infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Translate team engagements into reusable architectural patterns, standards, APIs, abstractions, and organization-wide developer guidance.
- Design AI infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, cloud-native, and edge environments.
- Architect compute orchestration and scheduling for heterogeneous workloads using Kubernetes, Ray, or equivalent technologies.
- Own model-serving infrastructure, inference optimization, and low-latency real-time inference pipelines.
- Build reusable Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks and tooling for consistent multi-environment AI workload management.
- Implement resource allocation, autoscaling, workload consolidation, observability, cost tracking, and performance monitoring strategies.
- Drive security, data residency, access control, auditability, and compliance standards for AI infrastructure.
- Shepherd ML/AI projects through the AI Supply Chain and facilitate governance approvals for high-risk model promotions.
- Mentor engineers and scientists on infrastructure best practices, distributed systems, optimization, and platform topics.
Requirements
- Deep expertise designing and operating AI workloads across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-native environments.
- Proven ability to work embedded with technical teams and translate complex requirements into scalable architectural solutions.
- Strong production-scale experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and distributed compute frameworks such as Ray or Spark.
- Expert-level Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform, CDK, or equivalent, including reusable multi-team templates.
- Deep knowledge of GPU and accelerator resource management, scheduling, optimization, and cost tracking across heterogeneous hardware.
- Experience designing model-serving infrastructure and inference-optimization pipelines for production AI workloads.
- Ability to solve complex infrastructure problems through systematic analysis and creative engineering.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, Legal, Security, Privacy, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with risk-tiered compliance models and governance workflows.
- Demonstrated mentoring and upskilling experience with scientists or engineers on infrastructure and platform topics.
- Preferred experience with robotics, autonomous systems, industrial perception, ROS/ROS2, edge AI, few-shot adaptation, heterogeneous compute, real-time operating systems, or hard real-time distributed systems.
- Preferred understanding of manufacturing, autonomous vehicle, or healthcare AI infrastructure requirements.

- The expected wage range is $172,000 to $236,500 per year.
- The position includes a discretionary performance-based bonus.
