Senior Software Engineer, Nix

Responsibilities
- Maintain an internal Nix package set for software distribution across development, hosted services, and embedded devices.
- Package open-source and proprietary software components using Nix.
- Define Nix usage standards, create tooling support, and integrate Nix into developer workflows.
- Provide assistance, training, and mentorship to other team members.
- Plan architectural changes and support users of the package set while operating autonomously with limited oversight.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Nix, Nixpkgs, NixOS, and functional programming.
- Deep understanding of build systems and packaging ecosystems.
- Ability to work through large, complicated systems and use Nix to improve them.
- Experience with one or more of Rust, C++, Go, Python, or Haskell.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Experience managing cloud computing resources such as AWS is preferred.
- Experience with modern build and deployment tooling and continuous integration, such as NixOS and Terraform, is preferred.
- Experience designing complex software systems and iterating through technical design reviews is preferred.
- Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and practices is preferred.
