Senior Software Engineer, AVP
State StreetResponsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements, applications, and projects.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex business and technical problems.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on product architecture within and beyond the team’s scope.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers and elevate team technical capabilities.
- Lead problem solving for projects and major project phases involving advanced software technical issues.
- Conduct code reviews and provide critical analysis of proposed changes.
- Write unit and automation tests and contribute to development and test methodology frameworks.
- Establish and uphold software quality standards across the development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot large, mission-critical client implementations at an expert level.
- Advance the Agile software development process, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and scrum methodology.
- Plan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign education equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 13 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 6 years of financial-services software development experience is strongly desired, particularly in portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management.
- Experience with Spring Boot microservices and service deployment in cloud environments.
- Understanding of microservice architectures and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge and experience with Kafka and message-based systems.
- Deep expertise in object-oriented programming, relational databases, low-latency and high-performance systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery and improve code quality.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applications and design simple solutions to highly complex business and technical problems.
- At least 5 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with peers.
