Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate production-grade Confluent Kafka platforms, including brokers, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, ksqlDB, and REST Proxy.
- Engineer and manage cloud-native workloads on Amazon EKS using Kubernetes configuration, deployment, upgrades, scaling, and operational support.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Develop and operate multi-region, active-active or active-passive architectures for availability, resilience, and disaster recovery.
- Develop automation and operational tooling with Python, Bash, or Go.
- Build stream-processing applications with Kafka Streams and support event-driven architectures, data enrichment, ordering, partitioning, replay, schema evolution, and delivery semantics.
- Contribute directly to production code, peer reviews, platform operations, troubleshooting, and engineering standards.
- Implement containerization, secure CI/CD, DevSecOps pipelines, automated quality gates, and test automation.
- Use Jira and Agile/Scrum delivery practices to plan, track, and continuously improve work.
- Produce architecture designs, decision records, technical documentation, and collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, and architecture teams.
Requirements
- 7–12 years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering complex distributed systems at scale.
- Hands-on expertise with Confluent Kafka, including topics, partitions, producers, consumers, Schema Registry, connectors, and operational practices.
- Strong Kubernetes and Amazon EKS experience, including StatefulSets, operators, persistent volumes, services, ingress, networking, orchestration, and scaling.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native design principles for scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Docker, Amazon ECR, multi-region architectures, and container security.
- Strong coding ability in Python, Bash, or Go, with emphasis on clean, testable, performant, and maintainable code.
- Experience with Kafka Streams and stateful and stateless stream-processing patterns.
- Experience with contract testing using PACT, unit testing with JUnit, integration testing, performance and load testing with JMeter, and mutation testing.
- Familiarity with GitLab, secure source control, branching strategies, automated quality gates, and DevSecOps pipelines.
- Experience with Docker Desktop, IntelliJ IDEA or an equivalent enterprise IDE, Jira, and AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitLab Duo, or Copilot.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
