Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and operational strategy of enterprise Kubernetes platforms for federal government missions.
- Architect, build, and maintain Nutanix Kubernetes Platform environments across air-gapped on-premises infrastructure and AWS.
- Design and deploy Amazon EKS environments, including VPCs, subnets, routing, IAM, cluster provisioning, node management, secure networking, ingress, availability, and resiliency.
- Implement Terraform-based Infrastructure-as-Code workflows for repeatable, scalable, and compliant infrastructure deployment.
- Manage platform operations including upgrades, patching, access controls, monitoring, logging, security hardening, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Operationalize shared, multi-tenant Kubernetes platforms and maintain platform stability and shared services.
- Provide Kubernetes subject matter expertise, architectural guidance, technical leadership, and best practices to engineering, DevSecOps, and application teams.
- Develop reference architectures, platform standards, operational procedures, deployment patterns, documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and engineering procedures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, networking, and development teams to support secure and compliant platform operations.
- Support containerization, automation, DevSecOps, CI/CD, cloud-native transformation, federal cybersecurity compliance, configuration management, and operational governance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
- 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes architecture and administration experience in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes, Nutanix Kubernetes Platform, Amazon EKS, Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and cloud-native technologies.
- Experience designing and supporting Kubernetes platforms in both air-gapped and cloud-based environments.
- Strong experience with AWS networking and architecture, IAM, RBAC, VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, Kubernetes networking and ingress, storage integrations, persistent volumes, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Experience implementing secure and compliant Kubernetes environments in federal or highly regulated organizations.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and container security best practices.
- Experience operating shared enterprise Kubernetes platforms supporting multi-tenant workloads, with strong troubleshooting, performance optimization, and platform reliability skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- US citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Q/SCI security clearance.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate, and Nutanix Certified Professional.
- Preferred experience includes Rancher, Helm, ArgoCD, Istio or service mesh technologies, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch logging stacks, Zero Trust Architecture, federal cloud modernization, and disconnected or classified environments.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred.

- The posted target base salary range is $146,000-$234,000, with potential eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus.
