
Senior Research Engineer, Threat Intelligence

Responsibilities
- Own the path from research output to production-ready detections, feeds, scoring inputs, or customer alerts.
- Build and maintain threat-intelligence platform components including distribution servers, sandbox orchestration, OSINT ingestion, federated-sharing endpoints, agent runtimes, and rules engines.
- Turn research findings into YARA, Sigma, STIX patterns, behavioral indicators, and distributed correlation pipelines.
- Drive STIX 2.1 adoption as a unified output schema and TAXII 2.1 as a distribution standard.
- Automate indicator enrichment, report drafting, corpus correlation, feed normalization, and sandbox triage with analyst review and safe unattended workflows.
- Build retrieval, schema validation, evaluation, logging, cost-accounting, latency-budgeting, and prompt-versioning infrastructure for applied language-model workflows.
- Coordinate with engineering, measurement, and platform product teams to deliver research into products and communicate technical work to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, with self-taught practitioners with strong public work also welcome.
- 5–8 years of hands-on engineering experience with meaningful exposure to threat intelligence, security research, or detection engineering.
- Prior experience building production systems that consume or emit threat-intelligence data.
- Production-level Python and TypeScript/Node experience.
- Experience with relational and cache data stores and at least one streaming or batch data platform.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of STIX 2.1, TAXII 2.1, MISP, and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Hands-on experience with YARA, Sigma, and STIX Patterning, including writing detection logic for production load.
- Production experience with language-model systems using retrieval over a real corpus, structured output validation, regression evaluation, and safeguards for model failures and adversarial input.
- Bonus experience with CEL, OPA, published security research, Splunk, Kinesis, NetFlow, open-source threat-intelligence projects, FAIR, or production-level Golang.
