Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deploy enhancements to the electronic trading platform.
- Build scalable, high-performing capabilities for a global front-office environment.
- Support, optimize, and debug production services.
- Collaborate with software engineers across time zones to deliver and support changes.
- Automate engineering and operational workflows to reduce repetitive work and toil.
- Use data-driven techniques to tune performance and improve runtime behavior.
- Improve engineering workflows, platform stability, and production reliability through automation and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Substantial hands-on software engineering experience in low-latency or real-time systems.
- Excellent Java capability, including concurrency, performance tuning, and memory management.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in complex production environments.
- Effective use of Linux or UNIX command-line tooling.
- Experience delivering in highly automated software development workflows.
- Confidence working with containerized runtime environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers across time zones.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada; HSBC will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
