Staff Software Engineer (Customer Platform)

Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
- Design, build, and evolve Go backend systems and REST/gRPC APIs for entitlement, policy, and customer onboarding services.
- Act as the primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other engineering teams, including Containers, Libraries, and OS packages.
- Extend Chainguard’s agentic AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers without requiring a management title.
- Help the team resolve ambiguity, prioritize tradeoffs, and ship iteratively against a product-driven roadmap.
Requirements
- Production experience with Go.
- Strong ownership of API design and backend systems at scale, including shipping and operating them in production.
- Experience coordinating across multiple engineering teams on technical standards, integration patterns, and shared infrastructure.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations by providing a diagnosis, recommendation, and path forward.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, and cloud provider APIs is preferred.
- Experience with entitlements, billing systems, or platform infrastructure is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience building or extending AI-powered product features is preferred but not required.
