Responsibilities
- Define quality engineering strategy, architecture, standards, and roadmaps for large-scale distributed payment platforms.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, including architecture, development practices, testing, and production readiness.
- Build scalable automation frameworks, testing platforms, tooling, and reusable quality engineering capabilities.
- Develop automated functional, API, integration, system, regression, end-to-end, resiliency, and performance testing solutions.
- Validate high-volume financial transactions and distributed-system qualities including availability, failover, disaster recovery, scalability, performance, and data integrity.
- Integrate automated quality gates and testing capabilities into software delivery pipelines.
- Establish quality metrics, test coverage models, observability strategies, release-readiness criteria, and production quality indicators.
- Troubleshoot complex production and pre-production issues across application, infrastructure, cloud, database, messaging, and integration layers.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, architecture, DevOps/SRE, security, and operations teams.
- Mentor Quality Engineers and Software Engineers and drive adoption of quality engineering best practices across teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering, SDET, Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or related engineering disciplines, including technical leadership for complex software platforms.
- 5+ years of experience in payments, banking, FinTech, financial services, card networks, or other high-volume transactional environments is strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of payment processing concepts such as authorization, routing, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, ATM, debit, credit, and push payments is highly desirable.
- Advanced programming skills in Java, Python, or comparable object-oriented languages, with experience building production-quality automation frameworks, engineering tools, or test platforms.
- Experience architecting scalable automation frameworks and reusable testing capabilities for APIs, microservices, distributed systems, integrations, and end-to-end workflows.
- Hands-on experience with API and service testing technologies such as Rest Assured, Karate, Postman, or equivalent frameworks.
- Strong SQL and data engineering/testing skills for validating complex transactional workflows and high-volume financial datasets.
- Experience designing automated testing strategies and quality gates within CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures and experience validating applications deployed on public or private cloud platforms.
- Experience with reliability, resiliency, scalability, performance, failover, disaster recovery, and high-availability testing.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana, or equivalent technologies.
- Ability to assess complex architectures, identify systemic quality and operational risks, influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
