Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded point-of-sale software and secure payment-processing functionality across multiple products.
  • Implement industry-standard protocols and contribute to system-side code, communication protocol design, and kernel development.
  • Create, maintain, and execute application unit tests as part of Continuous Integration.
  • Analyze bug reports, manage defect resolution, and report issue status.
  • Collaborate with QA staff to create, maintain, and execute appropriate test cases.
  • Perform code reviews and support high-quality, timely product and feature development.
  • Work with hardware teams on product design, schematics, I/O mapping, and manufacturing test software.
  • Collaborate with hardware, Android application, QA, and global partner teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software development experience.
  • At least 2 years working with embedded, mobile, or other connected devices.
  • Proficiency in C and experience with embedded systems, operating systems, software development tools, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Experience with automated testing, build systems, or device firmware communication.
  • Experience architecting and developing multithreaded applications, preferably in embedded systems.
  • Experience with communications protocols such as SPI, UART, I2C, and USB, plus debugging practices involving JTAG and GDB integrations.
  • Experience adding, monitoring, and parsing telemetry data to proactively resolve issues.
  • A degree in computer science or electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: proficiency in C++ or Golang; experience with ARM platforms, point-of-sale hardware, and peripherals; and knowledge of EMV, PCI, payment processing, retail payment technologies, low-level security architectures, and foundational cryptography.
