Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into agentic solutions with measurable success criteria.
- Design and build production agentic solutions across orchestration, tool-use pipelines, and enterprise-system integrations.
- Own solution architecture spanning multiple engineers’ work and account for upstream and downstream integration needs.
- Apply context engineering, retrieval patterns, structured retrieval, and dynamic prompt assembly while balancing token economics, latency, and decision quality.
- Develop evaluations, safety guardrails, offline benchmarks, online telemetry, and failure-mode analyses for LLM-based systems.
- Architect short-term context, long-term memory, conversation state, and durable workflow state for agents.
- Integrate LLM APIs, embedding models, vector stores, and agentic frameworks into production services.
- Make technical trade-offs involving delivery, scalability, framework selection, model selection, and infrastructure costs.
- Define metrics, evaluations, and observability patterns and drive accountability for performance, cost, accuracy, and security.
- Lead design and code reviews, mentor junior engineers, participate in hiring interviews, and contribute to engineering and security standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering complex, scalable distributed systems.
- Hands-on production experience with LLMs, foundation model APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, and embedding-based search.
- Experience designing, building, and operating AI agents or agentic workflows in production, including tool use, orchestration, and downstream integrations.
- Strong understanding of assembling, pruning, and structuring agent context within token, latency, and cost constraints.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks and safety guardrails for LLM-based systems, including offline benchmarks, online telemetry, and responsible deployment.
- Familiarity with agent memory patterns, vector stores, conversation state, and durable workflow state.
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or OpenAI Assistants API.
- Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, task decomposition, tool-use pipelines, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Product-minded engineering approach with strong user-impact instincts and the ability to translate business intent into agentic capabilities.
- Proficiency in Python and strong familiarity with multiple technology stacks and cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience collaborating with product, business, infrastructure, and security stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Agile development approaches such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with event-driven architectures, backend databases, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD tools such as GitLab, observability systems, retail or e-commerce domains, Spark, BigQuery, Redshift, production ML integrations, and open-source AI projects.
Benefits
- Medical, vision, dental, retirement, paid time away, life insurance, disability coverage, merchandise discounts, and EAP resources.
- 401(k), PTO accruals, holidays, and additional insurance options, subject to eligibility requirements.
