Responsibilities
- Translate ambiguous business problems into technical direction, architecture, interface designs, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Design and build front-end applications, services, APIs, and data layers as production software.
- Own automated testing strategy, unit-test coverage gates, integration testing against real service contracts, and Playwright functional and end-to-end tests.
- Package services as containers, modify deployment configuration, and promote changes through GitOps delivery pipelines.
- Use coding agents for implementation while defining guardrails, review standards, verification practices, and provenance controls.
- Implement security and compliance controls including SAST, DAST, dependency, secret, and container scanning, authentication, authorization, encryption, and compliant data handling.
- Instrument services with structured, tamper-evident audit logs and automatically capture compliance evidence such as test, scan, approval, and deployment artifacts.
- Operate services in production, define health signals, participate in incident response, and drive permanent remediation.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, and influence engineering direction across teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years at Staff or Principal level.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Delivery experience in regulated or compliance-bound environments such as CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001, including evidence and audit preparation.
- Experience with Azure or Azure Government Cloud, legacy modernization, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with supply-chain security, including SBOM generation, artifact signing, and provenance attestation such as SLSA or equivalent.
- Experience with policy-as-code enforcement using OPA, Conftest, or an equivalent tool.
- Observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, or comparable systems.
- Expert proficiency in a modern backend language such as C#/.NET, Java, Python, Go, or Node.js and a modern front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Hands-on Playwright experience and demonstrated ownership of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing standards.
- Working fluency with containerized deployment on Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, Git-based delivery workflows, and automated production pipelines.
- Production experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot Workspace, including judgment about when human architectural intervention is required.
- Experience defining review and verification standards for AI-generated code, including automated coverage, provenance, review attestation, and audit requirements.
- Daily secure SDLC practice covering SAST, DAST, dependency and container scanning, secret detection, and source-level remediation.
- Experience building audit-grade logging and automated compliance evidence.
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
