Base Salary

$499k - $900k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical strategy, cross-functional roadmaps, and organizational impact beyond the immediate team.
  • Build and evolve product-facing membership, pricing, acquisition, retention, and monetization capabilities.
  • Design and operate high-scale distributed systems addressing race conditions, consistency guarantees, distributed transactions, and throughput optimization.
  • Scale platform infrastructure for Netflix’s commerce surface across Ads, Games, and Live Streaming.
  • Own production reliability for Tier 0 services, including on-call participation and incident response.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver commerce experiences.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and elevate technical standards across the organization.
  • Lead requirements gathering, system design, execution, and delivery.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience building resilient, high-scale, low-latency distributed systems in production.
  • Experience with race conditions, eventual consistency, and distributed transactions.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business directives into scalable, maintainable platform solutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to non-engineering partners and lead cross-functional technical work.
  • Experience driving broader strategic impact, technical roadmaps, and solutions across teams.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing other engineers.
  • Nice-to-have experience with Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Hive, or AWS.
  • Nice-to-have experience with Presto, Spark SQL, or Apache Flink.
  • Proficiency with gRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL multi-region data stores such as Cassandra, Amazon Aurora, or Memcached.
  • Comfort with production on-call responsibilities and incident response for Tier 0 services.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

  • Annual salary range of $499,000.00-$900,000.00, with compensation also allocated between salary and stock options according to employee preference.
