Responsibilities
- Facilitate root-cause analyses using 8D, Five Whys, PDCA, and related structured problem-solving methods.
- Define, track, and verify preventive and corrective actions through closure.
- Document and resolve non-conformances and potential quality issues with responsible teams.
- Plan and conduct software and process quality audits, report findings, and drive closure of open issues.
- Establish quality data-collection processes, apply statistical methods, and monitor quality trends and control limits.
- Synthesize software quality assurance activities and metrics into dashboards, newsletters, executive summaries, and presentations.
- Collaborate with supplier quality teams to ensure externally sourced components meet Ford electronic Statement of Work requirements.
- Conduct software design reviews and engineering joint reviews for compliance with quality and development standards.
- Coach and train engineering teams on software quality practices and Automotive SPICE compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry.
- 3+ years of software quality and defect-prevention experience for embedded software systems.
- 3+ years of experience with 8D, Five Whys, root-cause-analysis facilitation, and PDCA.
- Experience with software quality audits, non-conformances, software process assessments, and Automotive SPICE is preferred.
- Experience with failure mode avoidance, embedded software development, verification and validation, and statistical quality methods is preferred.
- Experience with automotive software engineering processes, Ford’s Global Product Development System, Design and Release Engineering, supplier quality management, continuous integration, and automated software testing is preferred.
- Knowledge of open-source software compliance and cybersecurity best practices is preferred.
- Strong communication, coaching, and training skills.
