Responsibilities
- Champion an automation-first and shift-left testing culture across the team.
- Define automation strategies, tooling roadmaps, governance, testing standards, and best practices.
- Develop maintainable automated UI tests using frameworks such as Playwright and Selenium.
- Develop API tests using Postman, REST Assured, or comparable tools and frameworks.
- Design functional, integration, negative, contract, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios.
- Build reusable automation frameworks, component libraries, and utilities.
- Evaluate and implement AI/GenAI capabilities for test generation, self-healing tests, flaky-test detection, and change-impact analysis.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing.
- Define and monitor test execution, defect management, automation coverage, and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, architects, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in Agile planning, refinement, estimation, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor automation developers and help manual testers adopt automation-first practices.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or software development in test.
- Strong hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing, including integration, UI, and API testing.
- Experience designing and implementing automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Experience with Postman or comparable API testing tools and knowledge of API testing types and approaches.
- Experience with test management and defect management tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, or ALM.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum environments and CI/CD integration using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Practical hands-on experience applying AI/GenAI capabilities in software testing and automation.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical direction to QA engineers.
- Demonstrated success increasing automation coverage or reducing manual testing effort with measurable outcomes.
- Preferred experience with performance testing and tools such as JMeter, ReadyAPI, WebLOAD, or Neoload.
- Preferred knowledge of Selenium-based frameworks, API contract testing, service virtualization, Pact, WireMock, REST Assured, or Karate.
- Experience with cloud-based and containerized test execution environments is preferred.
- Programming experience in at least one language such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
- Knowledge of TDD/BDD, microservices, and micro-frontend testing is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder management, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
