Responsibilities
- Scope and lead large, often ambiguous technical projects that allow early-stage products to evolve and scale.
- Own and operate Kubernetes infrastructure on EKS using the Porter orchestrator.
- Apply Kubernetes best practices for resource management, health checks, autoscaling, pod disruption budgets, and graceful rollouts.
- Tune deployments and cluster configuration for zero-downtime releases and high availability.
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable, and safe delivery.
- Contribute to observability, alerting, and incident response practices across the platform.
Requirements
- 8–12 years of deep Kubernetes expertise, including production operations, best practices, performance tuning, and zero-downtime architectures.
- Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines at scale.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to optimize queries for performance and cost.
- Interest in modern data engineering, including lakehouse architectures, Iceberg, CDC, and transformation frameworks such as dbt or Coalesce.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with BizOps and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Experience owning systems end to end from design through operation.
- Preferred experience with cross-region architecture, multi-region failover, disaster recovery, and data replication.
- Preferred expertise in cross-tenant or multi-tenant architectures.
- Preferred experience with Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, EKS, Porter, dbt, Snowflake, Debezium, Estuary, or similar tools.
- Experience in fintech or other regulated environments, including PCI DSS or SOC 2, is preferred.
Benefits
- Opportunity to shape a greenfield data platform on modern lakehouse foundations.
- Real ownership across infrastructure and data on a small, high-impact team.
- Work at the intersection of platform engineering and data engineering.
