Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve scalable machine learning systems and services, including system design, API design, and data modeling.
- Own machine learning features and platforms from problem framing and data sourcing through feature engineering, model development, evaluation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
- Translate ambiguous business and customer problems into production ML solutions and integrate models into services and applications.
- Improve the quality, reliability, performance, observability, security, and operational excellence of ML services.
- Operate production ML workflows by monitoring model and data health, responding to incidents, and incorporating experimental and operational feedback.
- Mentor engineers and data practitioners through technical design discussions, code and modeling reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language used for ML, such as Python or Java.
- Deep understanding of software engineering, system design, API design, data modeling, and ML fundamentals including model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Experience with service-oriented or microservice architectures, APIs, large-scale data pipelines, and reliable, scalable, secure ML-backed services.
- Hands-on experience operating production ML workflows, including model and data monitoring, incident response, and system improvement.
- Preferred experience architecting distributed ML platforms for high-volume, low-latency prediction or large-scale batch inference.
- Preferred experience leading technical design, making modeling-performance-cost tradeoffs, improving ML observability and automation, and using distributed training, modern ML platforms, or inference optimization techniques.
