Senior Software Engineer- Java Backend, Officer
State StreetResponsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements, applications, and platform solutions.
- Design enterprise application architectures and platform-based solutions and deliver complex platforms into production.
- Modify core frameworks and primary facilities critical to system operation.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex business and technical problems.
- Provide technical leadership and critical analysis during product architecture design and code reviews.
- Develop automated tests, conduct manual testing, and improve development and test methodologies.
- Troubleshoot large, mission-critical client implementations.
- Create written design and API documentation and participate in customer documentation processes.
- Participate in the Scrum development process, including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Plan and coordinate cross-team activities and assist with resolving advanced software technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign education equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 9 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial-services software development is strongly desired, especially in portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management.
- At least 3 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology.
- Strong experience with enterprise application architecture, platform-based solution design, object-oriented programming, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Experience with Spring Boot, cloud-native services, Kubernetes, Kafka, message-based systems, and microservice architectures.
- Experience with cloud environments; Azure experience is a bonus.
- Experience with Snowflake is a strong asset, and Postgres SQL experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving high-performance, multi-tier database applications and design simple software solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers.
