Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and scale the infrastructure powering all company systems and the tools that keep them operating smoothly.
- Find and eliminate manual toil by implementing automation and using AI agents to write, test, and ship infrastructure code.
- Create and maintain internal agentic tools and harnesses.
- Write Terraform modules for infrastructure deployment through GitLab pipelines.
- Develop Helm charts for deploying services and jobs in Kubernetes.
- Define metrics, network policies, and routing rules for the Istio service mesh.
- Monitor and maintain BigQuery, Spanner, and Cloud SQL databases.
- Send metrics to Google-managed Prometheus and build Grafana dashboards and alerts.
- Evaluate cloud offerings, vendors, AI tooling, and open-source projects to improve automation and security.
- Partner with engineering leads to instrument and monitor critical functionality.
- Participate in architecture design and capacity planning for scalable, maintainable, reliable, and secure systems.
- Build, maintain, and improve the CI/CD pipeline.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale cloud-native infrastructure on AWS and/or GCP.
- Demonstrated fluency directing AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor to build, operate, and debug infrastructure, with strong judgment in verifying their work.
- Track record of replacing manual operations with durable automation.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio or a similar service mesh technology.
- Experience with SQL database technologies such as MySQL, Google BigQuery, and Google Spanner.
- Experience with stream technologies such as Kafka and Amazon Kinesis.
- Experience with pub/sub technologies such as AWS SNS and Google Pub/Sub.
- Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, and Google Cloud Run.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with SOC 2 and PCI compliance processes and requirements.
- Willingness to learn and teach, collaborate in a fast-paced environment, provide and receive constructive feedback, and experiment with new technologies.
