Base Salary
$124k - $222k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop, operate, and improve Workday’s cloud-native platform and supporting tools across public clouds.
- Reduce operational toil through automation, software engineering, and sustainable platform scaling.
- Build SLO-gated, multi-stage deployment automation for safe changes and reliable customer environments.
- Develop SLIs, observability architecture, runbook automation, and processes to improve reliability and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with platform service teams to define SRE standards, benchmarks, and automation for production readiness.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call function and support, maintain, and sustain the platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent degree.
- At least four years of DevOps or SRE experience in distributed systems environments.
- At least four years of experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and at least four years with Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or Ruby, preferably Go.
- Experience solving distributed-systems problems in public clouds and providing demonstrable automation examples.
- Experience with code management, CI/CD using Git, Jenkins, or ArgoCD, and testing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; an active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include CKA/CKAD, Associate Cloud Engineer, and DoD 8570/8140-compliant IAT Level II certification with current CE and an approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+.
- U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports U.S. Federal Government contracts.
Benefits
- Base salary ranges are $137,000-$205,400 for the primary Reston, Virginia location and $123,900-$222,000 for additional U.S. locations.
- The role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or role-specific bonus and annual refresh stock grants.
- Flexible work combines remote and in-person work, with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners.
- The role may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
