Responsibilities
- Design, test, document, version, and operate reusable infrastructure-as-code modules using Pulumi and Terraform.
- Build golden paths, paved-road templates, self-service automation, and internal platform capabilities for development teams.
- Own shared AWS services, account and network topology, identity and access patterns, environment promotion, and Amazon EKS platforms.
- Build platform capabilities for microservices, including service scaffolding, ingress, service discovery, secrets delivery, and readiness standards.
- Design CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary, progressive rollout, and automated rollback.
- Establish DevSecOps practices including security scanning, policy-as-code, secrets management, image hardening, least-privilege IAM, and vulnerability remediation.
- Use AI coding assistants and build AI-assisted operational automation for triage, summarization, remediation suggestions, and change impact analysis.
- Own observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerting, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Lead incident response, postmortems, root cause analysis, corrective actions, performance and capacity work, resiliency efforts, and cloud cost optimization.
- Define security and compliance controls aligned with Blue Origin standards and ITAR/EAR export-control requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, reviews, documentation, feedback, and input on schedules, budgets, milestones, tools, and process improvements.
Requirements
- B.S. degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, information systems, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing, deploying, and operating software or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience as a platform, DevOps/DevSecOps, site reliability, or cloud infrastructure engineer owning production systems.
- Hands-on experience with reusable infrastructure-as-code modules, including Pulumi and Terraform.
- Deep AWS experience with EC2, EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, Route 53, and Secrets Manager or Parameter Store.
- Experience designing, deploying, upgrading, networking, autoscaling, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes clusters.
- Experience supporting multiple teams or tenants on shared infrastructure with multi-account, isolation, and guardrail patterns.
- Experience with Docker, container image pipelines, registries, and image hardening.
- Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Argo CD.
- Professional use of AI coding assistants or agentic development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or Amazon Q.
- Experience with microservice architectures, site reliability practices, incident response, capacity planning, and toil reduction.
- Experience with Linux internals, command-line tools, shell scripting, TypeScript or Python, and at least one additional programming language.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, or Elastic Stack.
- Knowledge of networking, databases and SQL including NoSQL, cloud security, IAM, secure software delivery, and on-call operations.
- Preferred qualifications include internal developer platform experience, Kubernetes operators or CRDs, GitOps, Helm or Kustomize, infrastructure testing, policy-as-code, AWS landing zones, AI/LLM operations automation, MCP or agent frameworks, DevSecOps scanning, secrets management, Kafka or Amazon MSK, FinOps, resiliency testing, relevant certifications, and aerospace or other high-reliability engineering experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
