Responsibilities
- Design and build Java/Spring Boot backend services for complex banking and cash management flows.
- Create REST APIs and event-driven integrations using Kafka across internal platforms, data platforms, and external systems.
- Own technical design and architecture decisions and lead implementation with engineering teams.
- Guide developers through code reviews, design reviews, technical decisions, troubleshooting, and implementation support.
- Design reliable, secure, resilient, auditable, and recoverable systems using databases and distributed-system practices.
- Support modernization of legacy capabilities into maintainable, cloud-ready engineering environments.
- Work with product owners, architects, developers, platform teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
- Balance business needs, delivery pressure, risk, and long-term engineering quality.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with architecture, system design, complex integrations, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
- AWS or other cloud-native delivery experience, plus practical production-readiness and observability knowledge.
- Good relational database knowledge and understanding of data consistency, auditability, and recovery.
- Ability to lead developers technically while remaining hands-on with code reviews, troubleshooting, technical spikes, and implementation.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and fluent spoken and written English.
- Banking, payments, finance, or other regulated-domain experience is advantageous.
- Experience with data platforms, data products, analytical integrations, or practical AI in software engineering is advantageous.

- Gross salary of EUR 5,200–6,900 per month, determined by experience and competencies.
