Responsibilities
- Design and build Java and Spring Boot backend services for complex banking and payment flows.
- Create API and event-driven integrations using Kafka between internal platforms, data platforms, and external systems.
- Lead technical design, architecture decisions, implementation, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Guide developers technically and support troubleshooting, technical spikes, and implementation decisions.
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for correctness, security, resilience, monitoring, auditability, data consistency, recovery, and operational stability.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, developers, platform teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
- Support modernization of legacy capabilities into maintainable, cloud-ready systems.
- Make practical trade-offs among business needs, delivery pressure, risk, and long-term quality.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with architecture, system design, complex integrations, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technology.
- AWS or other cloud-native delivery experience.
- Good knowledge of relational databases and data consistency.
- Hands-on experience with code reviews, troubleshooting, technical spikes, and implementation support.
- Ability to lead developers technically rather than only manage tasks.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Banking, payments, finance, or other regulated-domain experience is advantageous.
- Experience with data platforms, data products, analytical integrations, or practical AI in software engineering is a plus.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
