Responsibilities
- Set the architecture and service contracts for KYC/KYB verification flows.
- Abstract KYC and KYB vendors to prevent provider failures from causing outages.
- Design fail-closed behavior and audit trails suitable for regulatory scrutiny.
- Identify and permanently eliminate recurring classes of system failure.
- Write and drive architecture decision records and enforce security and compliance during design.
- Mentor senior engineers through design reviews, code contributions, and direct feedback.
- Improve verification speed, automation, decision accuracy, system availability, and team effectiveness.
Requirements
- Around eight years of experience building and running production systems and owning a domain’s technical direction.
- Deep expertise in Rust and versatility with TypeScript and React.
- Experience setting architecture used by other engineers and designing out classes of failure.
- Experience improving team effectiveness through patterns, tooling, or mentoring.
- Experience in compliance, payments, security, or another domain where incorrect decisions have significant consequences.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, service contracts, secure design, and resilient third-party API integrations.
- Familiarity with gRPC, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL or MariaDB, Redis, and GitLab CI.
- KYC, KYB, fraud, and providers such as Trulioo, Persona, or ComplyAdvantage are preferred.
- Experience building with AI and work in crypto, fintech, or another highly regulated industry are preferred.
