Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud architectures that meet client scalability, performance, security, and availability requirements.
- Deploy and manage cloud resources, containers, and related services using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Configure and maintain cloud networking, security, access controls, load balancing, caching, and content delivery solutions.
- Develop automated provisioning, monitoring, and scaling processes, including CI/CD pipelines for application deployments.
- Monitor and optimise cloud infrastructure performance and resource usage.
- Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Create runbooks, configuration management documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide high-tier support for client applications and infrastructure, including occasional on-call coverage.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud services, tools, and solutions while promoting cloud best practices.
- Maintain compliance standards and certifications and share knowledge of emerging cloud technologies.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a cloud engineering role and a strong foundation in building and deploying cloud services.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud platforms.
- Hands-on software delivery experience and knowledge of modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in a technology consultancy and multidisciplinary delivery environment is desirable.
- Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, Developer, DevOps Engineer, Security, or Advanced Networking, and Azure Developer, Security, DevOps, or Network Engineer certifications, are desirable.
- Knowledge of AWS APN, Azure Partners, well-architected frameworks, and UK public sector technology guidance is desirable.
- Familiarity with Python, Bash, and JavaScript is desirable.
- Experience with Scrum, XP, Kanban, and Test Driven Development is desirable.
- Successful candidates must be eligible for SC security clearance, requiring five years of continuous UK residency and a five-year employment history or history back to full-time education.
