Responsibilities
- Write high-quality C/C++ code and contribute in other languages as needed.
- Develop unit, integration, and regression tests and participate in code reviews.
- Improve YugabyteDB scalability and throughput as cluster sizes and transaction volumes grow.
- Contribute to the open-source YugabyteDB project and distributed SQL capabilities.
- Troubleshoot correctness, stability, and performance issues in distributed query planning and execution.
- Design, implement, and test database features under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with query, storage, platform, and other engineering teams.
Requirements
- Have 1–4 years of software engineering experience.
- Hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
- Have experience with C/C++, Java, or similar systems-level languages.
- Understand systems engineering fundamentals, operating systems, distributed systems, databases, concurrency, and threading.
- Have strong foundations in data structures and algorithms.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Preferred: coursework or hands-on experience in distributed or storage systems.
- Preferred: exposure to databases, SQL, PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL internals, replication, transactions, fault tolerance, or relational database engines.
- Preferred: contributions to open-source database or systems projects.
