Base Salary
$255k - $285k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction for Bumble’s recommendations platform.
- Lead the design of large-scale distributed systems for recommendations.
- Identify and solve high-leverage technical problems across the recommendations stack.
- Establish architectural principles and engineering standards to improve system quality.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
- Drive long-term platform evolution through foundational initiatives.
- Contribute hands-on by writing and reviewing high-quality code.
Requirements
- Typically requires 8+ years of experience in building large-scale backend or distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in designing and operating high-scale distributed systems.
- Strong experience in modern programming languages such as Go, Kotlin, or Java.
- Understanding of recommendation systems and large-scale decision systems.
- Experience building cloud-native systems on Google Cloud Platform or similar.
- Ability to define technical strategy and influence architectural direction.
- Proven experience collaborating with Product, Data Science, and Engineering leadership.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards.
- Strong AI fluency and experience with AI-assisted engineering tools.
