Responsibilities
- Own architecture across APIs, microservices, data, and integration patterns for scalable, resilient, high-performance systems.
- Drive the end-to-end design and implementation of critical services, remaining hands-on in complex and high-risk areas.
- Lead technical decisions involving performance, scalability, reliability, security, observability, platform stability, and business priorities.
- Define solution direction across multiple teams and align architecture, roadmaps, transition states, and delivery sequencing.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, technical guidance, and hands-on support to engineering teams.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, governance, maintainability, and long-term platform health.
- Lead architecture governance, reviews, documentation, proofs of concept, pilots, modernization, migration, and platform transformation initiatives.
- Drive engineering excellence through domain-driven design, event-driven design, secure-by-design practices, and modern delivery practices.
- Mentor engineers and emerging architects and strengthen technical capability across teams.
- Follow Mastercard security policies, protect information confidentiality and integrity, report suspected breaches, and complete required security training.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting large-scale, high-performance distributed platforms in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems, API and service design, modern backend architecture, and data-intensive platform design.
- Experience with microservices architecture, domain-driven design, modern integration patterns, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of web architecture, application development, integration patterns, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL and data models supporting high-volume transaction processing and operational workflows.
- Ability to define and implement non-functional requirements for resilience, scalability, observability, security, and performance.
- Experience supporting modernization, migration, and platform transformation where continuity of service is critical.
- Ability to communicate architecture clearly, make trade-offs, influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, and operate independently under pressure.
- Desirable experience includes fraud, decisioning, workflow, analyst-facing platforms, scalable transaction processing, GemFire or similar distributed data platforms, streaming or messaging platforms, vendor and open-source integrations, cryptography, PKI infrastructure, architecture governance, risk, assurance, enterprise reviews, and AI/GenAI or automation opportunities.
