Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust, clean, testable, and documented backend services in native PHP 7/8.
Build and optimize high-volume transaction and billing workflows for reliability, idempotency, and data integrity at scale.
Develop and maintain REST and SOAP APIs for operator, merchant, and third-party integrations.
Design schemas, optimize queries, manage indexing, and tune performance across MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
Integrate payment, messaging/SMS, USSD, carrier, monitoring, billing, and other external systems and gateways.
Implement asynchronous processing with RabbitMQ and Kafka and caching with Redis and Memcached.
Ensure application security, resilience, logging, metrics, alerting, and observability in a high-availability environment.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and Git-based workflows.
Collaborate with product, operations, and QA teams to ship, monitor, and improve production services.

5 to 10 years of experience building and maintaining high-throughput, production-grade backend systems.
Expert-level native/core PHP 7/8 with strong object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean architecture skills.
Proven experience with high-throughput, transactional backend systems.
Strong SQL skills with MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL, including modeling, optimization, and debugging.
Experience designing and consuming REST and SOAP APIs.
Comfort with Linux environments, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
Familiarity with RabbitMQ or Kafka, Redis, and asynchronous processing.
Understanding of application security and data integrity in sensitive or financial contexts.
Fluent English and ability to work autonomously across time zones.
Payment, billing, or telecom platform experience is preferred.
Experience with Symfony or Laravel is preferred.
Docker and containerization experience is preferred.
Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Graylog is preferred.
Awareness of PCI-DSS or other security and compliance standards is preferred.
