Responsibilities
- Design and evolve end-to-end system architectures based on functional and non-functional requirements, balancing scalability, security, performance, cost, and business goals.
- Produce architecture diagrams, decision records, reference implementations, proofs of concept, system boundaries, integration patterns, and data-flow designs.
- Translate business requirements into modular, maintainable, secure, performant, and adaptable technical solutions while uncovering implicit or conflicting requirements.
- Lead architecture reviews, design walkthroughs, technical governance forums, and improvements to enterprise standards and delivery practices.
- Advise engineering teams and collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Management, DevOps, EngOps, Cloud Engineering, and platform teams.
- Support implementation by resolving complex design and integration challenges and ensuring alignment with operational, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Influence technical direction through coaching, design collaboration, and technical leadership without formal management authority.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience and at least 5+ years in software architecture or system design roles.
- Proven ability to design complex, distributed, scalable systems using SOA, microservices, event-driven architectures, and REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong experience with modern backend architectures, including .NET, microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, and integration with React and TypeScript frontend architectures.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures and containerization.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, and MongoDB, plus caching with Redis or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of performance, scalability, availability, security, and observability requirements, including performance optimization.
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English and Spanish, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts and influence technical direction without direct management authority.
- Experience with Agile development practices, including Scrum or Kanban, story estimation, code reviews, and pair programming.
- Experience working in distributed or remote teams and using Jira, GitHub, Miro, and Azure DevOps.
- Understanding of secure development practices and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC 2.
- Preferred experience with performance testing, security testing tools, global multicultural organizations, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, DevOps, CloudOps, SRE, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced technology environment and foster change in larger organizations.
