Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and hands-on development of a greenfield iOS and Android consumer application through launch and scale.
- Make foundational decisions regarding React Native/Expo versus native Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose development.
- Build polished mobile experiences involving cameras, photo libraries, image-heavy interactions, gestures, animations, sharing, notifications, deep linking, and application lifecycle management.
- Own application performance, reliability, startup time, memory usage, rendering performance, and behavior across iOS and Android devices.
- Establish mobile architecture patterns, engineering standards, workflows, testing strategies, observability, and release processes.
- Partner with Product, Design, backend, computer vision, and AI teams to deliver consumer experiences.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, prototyping, and hands-on implementation.
- Mentor engineers, participate in hiring, and help build the mobile engineering team and long-term engineering strategy.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with significant experience building and operating production mobile applications.
- Strong experience building consumer-facing iOS and/or Android applications and taking mobile or consumer products from early stages through launch.
- Experience leading the architecture and delivery of significant mobile products or major application features.
- Strong React Native experience and/or deep expertise in native iOS or Android development.
- Strong understanding of mobile performance, rendering, memory management, networking, application lifecycle, and device constraints.
- Experience with cameras, photo libraries, gestures, animations, push notifications, deep links, and application distribution.
- Strong product instincts, attention to interaction details, technical judgment, execution focus, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, plus a leadership mindset and initiative.
- Familiarity with the company's exact technology stack is preferred but not required; deep mobile expertise and technical judgment are more important.
