Responsibilities
- Own, operate, and optimize production DynamoDB workloads, including data modeling, capacity strategy, indexes, TTL, Streams, backup and restore, and multi-region patterns.
- Design, deploy, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases, including sharding, indexing, backups, and performance tuning.
- Use AWS services to build reliable, observable, secure data solutions and automate schema, capacity, and operational changes through CLI and SDK tooling.
- Establish database observability with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, SLOs, and alerts, and lead performance and root-cause investigations.
- Guide data access patterns, migrations, schema evolution, disaster recovery, chaos and restore testing, and incident reviews.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and handle emergency off-hours escalations.
Requirements
- Senior-level hands-on production expertise with DynamoDB, including table design, single-table modeling, indexes, Streams, backup and restore, and performance and cost optimization.
- Experience with AWS MSK or Kafka for event-driven and streaming use cases.
- Experience administering DocumentDB and/or MongoDB, including sizing, replication, sharding, indexing, backups, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Strong AWS cloud fundamentals for data platforms, including IAM, KMS, networking, S3, CloudWatch, and preferably DMS and Lambda.
- Proficiency with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, AWS CLI, and SDKs for operational automation and safety checks.
- Working knowledge of MySQL/Aurora or PostgreSQL and experience with hybrid data designs.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Database Specialty, or equivalent demonstrable expertise, are preferred.
- Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, GitOps, ECS or EKS, cloud-native data security, and multi-region DocumentDB/MongoDB topologies is preferred.
- Strong English communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, ownership, and continuous-improvement skills.
