Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, power system engineers, and software architects to design and develop PSLF applications.
  • Develop and maintain software components, algorithms, APIs, data models, input/output formats, and file conversion utilities for power system studies.
  • Implement numerical algorithms for power flow, contingency processing, fault analysis, voltage stability, transfer capability, and dynamic simulation.
  • Develop C and Python modules supporting automation, workflow integration, and advanced analytics.
  • Create representative test cases, validation studies, unit tests, integration tests, and regression test suites.
  • Troubleshoot defects, performance issues, modeling discrepancies, and customer-reported technical problems.
  • Modernize legacy components to improve performance, scalability, maintainability, and user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, documentation, release notes, user guides, and training materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3–5 years of experience in software development, power systems analysis, transmission planning, or energy industry applications.
  • Knowledge of electric power system fundamentals, including power flow, contingency analysis, fault analysis, and stability concepts.
  • Experience developing software with C, Python, and/or C#.
  • Experience implementing engineering algorithms and data processing solutions.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented design, software architecture, software testing, debugging, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with relational databases, structured data formats, and large datasets.
  • Preferred experience with PSLF, PowerWorld, PSS®E, PowerFactory, TARA, numerical methods, HDF5, Git, Mercurial, cloud technologies, high-performance computing, parallel processing, or workflow automation.
  • A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
