Responsibilities
- Own the availability, performance, scalability, and overall health of a critical shared service.
- Maintain service-level objectives and continuously improve availability, latency, observability, and reliability.
- Write automation to scale systems sustainably, prevent service issues, and recover services quickly.
- Partner with development teams to improve reliability, observability, and release velocity.
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems, root cause analysis, and resolution.
- Support cloud migration through architectural reviews, operational acceptance testing, and Datadog dashboard and metric configuration.
- Build, deploy, and run scalable, reliable, and performant services using strong engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field involving software or systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior application support experience focused on site reliability engineering.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Shell or Python.
- Experience maintaining infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog or Dynatrace.
- Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with incident response and running blameless postmortems.
- Proficiency with Git workflows.
- Six or more years of industry experience preferred.
- Experience with DevOps concepts and ways of working preferred.
- Experience with algorithms and data structures preferred.
- Understanding of identity and access management and application security preferred.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS and Azure preferred.
