Base Salary
$110k - $120k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality, testable, and maintainable code within Flywire’s billing and payments system.
- Develop features that support secure, scalable, high-performance money movement for colleges and universities.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for code exploration, test scaffolding, problem solving, and production-quality code development.
- Write comprehensive test cases for all new code.
- Balance security, quality, scaling, and performance with delivery speed.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams across the United States and globally.
- Participate in solutioning meetings and communicate technical tradeoffs effectively.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks while escalating well-formed questions when appropriate.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of professional experience in application development.
- Professional Java development experience in a production environment.
- Understanding of relational databases, specifically MySQL.
- Familiarity with Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, and Hibernate is preferred.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSP is preferred.
- Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, and AssertJ for automated testing.
- Ability to learn new systems and legacy codebases quickly and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across diverse, global teams.
- Experience in FinTech or higher education and familiarity with student billing or tuition workflows are appreciated.
