Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Ruby on Rails features including models, controllers, background jobs, and APIs.
- Build responsive, reusable Vue.js components and connect them to Rails through APIs.
- Write automated tests and maintain high coverage on new code.
- Design database schemas, write efficient PostgreSQL queries, and diagnose slow queries and N+1 issues.
- Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and client stakeholders to scope features, estimate work, and ship iteratively.
- Monitor, debug, and fix production issues and help improve deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
- Upgrade Rails and Vue dependencies and reduce technical debt.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience building web applications with Ruby on Rails.
- At least 3 years of hands-on Vue.js experience; Vue 3 and the Composition API are preferred.
- Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and ActiveRecord.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Practical experience writing automated tests and using test-driven development.
- Comfort with Git, pull-request workflows, and CI/CD tools.
- Consulting or client-facing experience, including direct work with client stakeholders on requirements.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude, with the judgment to review and verify generated code.
- Experience with Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, or Node.js is a plus.
