Responsibilities
- Design and develop highly concurrent, distributed backend services focused on high availability.
- Own architectural contributions and drive technical decisions across teams.
- Lead performance optimization and diagnose complex system issues.
- Design, develop, and test features while maintaining high quality and reliability.
- Support feature releases and documentation.
- Define and champion coding standards and development processes.
- Mentor and support junior engineers.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Go or deep experience with JVM technologies such as Java and Spring Boot, with willingness to move to Go.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale.
- Solid experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures and systems.
- Experience contributing to and driving architectural decisions.
- Experience with containerized applications and cloud-native environments.
- Experience profiling and optimizing performance at scale.
- Experience building HTTP-based services.
- Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Strong test suite design skills covering unit, integration, and smoke tests.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical problems and solutions.
- Preferred experience with AWS services including SQS, SNS, and DynamoDB; Kafka; Kubernetes; or Terraform.
- Understanding of continuous delivery in cloud environments and the telecommunications industry is preferred.
