Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver features end to end, from discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
- Build and maintain Gravitee API Management features across the gateway runtime, management API, and console, including the move to Gamma.
- Develop Java APIs and services using asynchronous and non-blocking patterns with Vert.x and RxJava.
- Build responsive TypeScript and Angular interfaces and data visualizations using Elasticsearch and OpenSearch logs and metrics.
- Help customers configure and observe AI Gateways, MCP tools and servers, agent identity, and agent-to-agent interactions.
- Work on API security, rate limiting, quotas, CORS, and policy and plugin chains in request and response flows.
- Model and transform operational data into understandable and actionable platform views.
- Own US-hours Level 3 and Level 4 APIM customer escalations as part of the pager duty rotation.
- Use LLMs and AI-assisted development tools for prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging, and exploration while validating their output.
- Write automated tests, contribute to reliable delivery practices, and collaborate through product, design, and engineering reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and running production backend software for a team that ships and supports its own product.
- Strong Java experience and experience designing maintainable REST APIs and backend services using Maven and a reactive stack such as Vert.x or RxJava with backpressure.
- Strong TypeScript and modern frontend development experience with a component-based framework, preferably Angular, including data-rich interfaces and visualizations.
- Working knowledge of API gateway and reverse-proxy architecture, including request lifecycles, policy and plugin chains, entrypoints and endpoints, and synchronous and event-driven APIs.
- Knowledge of API security fundamentals including OAuth2, JWT, API keys, mTLS, rate limiting, quotas, and CORS.
- Experience with persistent data stores such as MongoDB or relational databases and search or analytics technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, code review, automated testing, production incident resolution, and supporting shipped products.
- Hands-on experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants with the judgment to review and improve generated output.
- Clear communication, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to take ambiguous problems through production.
- Preferred experience includes API gateway, proxy, service-mesh, API platform, Kubernetes operator and CRD, OpenAPI, Envoy, Docker, cloud-native delivery, MCP, A2A, tool calling, LLM proxies, RAG systems, agentic workflows, open-source software, or enterprise developer platforms.
