Base Salary
$118k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable backend systems, services, and APIs.
- Translate complex business requirements into performant, maintainable system designs.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to enhance product capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership and direction while contributing directly to software development.
- Develop software for large-scale cloud services with a focus on reliability, simplicity, and operational maintainability.
- Establish development and operational standards and improve software development lifecycle processes.
- Troubleshoot complex distributed-system issues with minimal oversight.
- Champion secure, uniform, well-documented API designs and governance across REST and gRPC interfaces.
- Participate in on-call rotation and own incident response, including triage, mitigation, and root cause analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale and highly available services.
- Experience developing scalable services with clean APIs using gRPC or HTTP.
- Understanding of networking and software-defined networking.
- Experience with Go or Ruby/Ruby on Rails and willingness to learn additional languages.
- Experience creating fast feedback loops with automated testing and development workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other container services.
- Experience with Agile development practices, Scrum, JIRA, peer review, and Git.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, documentation, and architectural diagramming skills.
- Ability to operate at least one traditional SQL database; PostgreSQL is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of hardware management or automated server bootstrapping in data centers.
- Experience with Open Source contributions and communities is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools is a plus.
