Responsibilities
- Contribute to observability pipelines that ingest, process, and route production metrics, logs, and traces.
- Build and enhance backend services using Golang, Java, or Python.
- Work with Kubernetes services running in Azure and Google Cloud Platform to improve service health visibility and reliability.
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and SLO/SLA views using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and ClickHouse.
- Improve the scalability, performance, and resiliency of streaming pipelines, storage layers, query paths, and other observability components.
- Plan, implement, test, document, and demonstrate a scoped 12-week internship project with a mentor and engineering teammates.
- Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation between December 2027 and May or June 2028.
- Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Golang, Java, or Python.
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Ability to work from the Seattle, Washington hub in a hybrid arrangement during the internship.
- Preferred experience or coursework includes distributed systems, backend services, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, or data pipelines.
- Preferred familiarity with metrics, logs, traces, telemetry standards, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or ClickHouse.
- Preferred experience with Azure or GCP and understanding of monitoring, alerting, SLOs, SLAs, performance, and resiliency.
- Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and learning skills.
Benefits

- Hybrid work arrangement in Seattle, typically one to two days per week in the office, with office access required.
- Position is eligible for a base salary of $38-$45 per hour in Washington, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York, including the NYC metro area.
- This position is not eligible for employment in Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
