Responsibilities
- Design and implement core Windows Search Platform components.
- Drive technical deep-dives, author design specifications, and establish technical direction for complex search-platform features.
- Own feature delivery from design through coding, testing, self-host validation, and retail rollout.
- Collaborate with Product and Data teams to align technically and resolve architectural trade-offs.
- Build and maintain observability infrastructure and improve reliability, quality, and performance.
- Lead bug triage, root-cause analysis, technical-debt reduction, and proactive quality engineering.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
- Champion AI-assisted engineering practices, agentic workflows, automation, and AI tooling.
- Represent technical decisions and progress in engineering forums, sprint reviews, and cross-team syncs.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of technical engineering experience.
- Solid proficiency in C/C++ and systems-level or platform software development.
- Experience with multithreaded programming, memory management, and native-code performance optimization.
- Ability to own and deliver complex features end to end with minimal guidance.
- Deep understanding of Windows internals, the NT kernel, NTFS/ReFS file systems, or OS-level services and infrastructure.
- Experience with search or indexing systems, database internals, query processing, or information retrieval at scale.
- Experience authoring design specifications and driving technical consensus across stakeholders.
- Experience with telemetry frameworks, observability pipelines, and data-driven quality engineering.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns, embedding-based retrieval, LLM consumption APIs, or AI-native platform design.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across user-mode and kernel-mode components.
- Methodical analytical, software design, testing, and performance-analysis skills.
- Confident communication skills for explaining technical decisions and trade-offs to engineers and leadership.
- Strong ownership, accountability, self-motivation, and bias toward action.
