Base Salary
$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build core services that track and orchestrate package movement across pickup, hub sortation, linehaul, and final delivery.
- Develop scalable product features for merchants, drivers, warehouse operators, and end customers.
- Model logistics domains and design event-driven systems and data models for high-volume operations.
- Write maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code using Uber’s platform primitives, including Go, distributed datastores, workflow orchestration, streaming/event buses, and RPC.
- Make data-driven architecture and systems-design decisions.
- Build alerting and monitoring and own production operations, reliability, maintenance, and on-call health.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of backend software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Go, Java, or a similar object-oriented programming language.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Demonstrated history of shipping high-quality products used by real customers.
- Willingness to own products end-to-end, including operations, maintenance, and reliability.
- Experience collaborating across functions and leading cross-team efforts.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
- Preferred: BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven or streaming architectures and microservice design.
- Preferred: experience in logistics, supply chain, fulfillment, marketplaces, or other high-throughput operational systems.
- Preferred: comfort working in greenfield environments and migrating or integrating existing systems onto a new platform.
- Preferred: experience driving alignment across stakeholders and translating ambiguous business problems into concrete technical solutions.
Benefits
- Base salary range of USD $171,000 to USD $190,000 per year for Seattle, Washington-based roles.
- Eligibility for Uber’s bonus program and potential equity awards and other compensation.
