Responsibilities
- Design, build, improve, and maintain scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices for onboarding, purchasing, subscriptions, content access, and other Telia Play capabilities.
- Design resilient distributed solutions, integrations, and service architecture while contributing to architectural decisions and engineering standards.
- Deploy and operate cloud-native services on AWS using EKS, ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
- Promote clean and testable code, improve delivery pipelines and observability, support less-experienced engineers, and own solutions through production operation.
- Collaborate across the product organization and contribute to secure, reliable, high-performing backend services.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional backend development experience, primarily with modern Java, ideally Java 21 or later.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Security, data access, service integration, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven integration patterns, software security, automated testing, observability, reliability, and performance.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions, and the ability to analyze complex technical problems, communicate reasoning clearly, and own solutions from design through production.
- Experience with GraphQL, Kafka or other event-streaming technologies, Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, OpenSearch, Istio or another service mesh, and observability or resilience practices is advantageous.
- Experience with high-availability or high-traffic consumer platforms, disaster recovery, backup and failover, business continuity, security practices, IAM, secrets management, encryption, network security, incident response, or practical AI integrations is beneficial but not required.
