Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and technically guide a team of kernel engineers developing storage drivers and middleware.
  • Architect and optimize Linux storage target and initiator stacks, including NVMe over Fabrics and FC-SCSI.
  • Upstream performance enhancements and bug fixes to the open-source Linux kernel.
  • Diagnose and resolve SAN congestion, multipathing, and kernel-level bottlenecks to improve IOPS, bandwidth, resilience, and link health.
  • Partner with Fibre Channel and fabric vendors including Cisco and Broadcom to integrate PCIe Gen4/Gen5 and HBA technologies.
  • Own Linux kernel maintenance and test automation strategy for validating supported SAN configurations.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise writing, debugging, and optimizing low-level Linux/Unix device drivers.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of interrupt handling, memory management, NUMA optimization, and lock contention analysis.
  • Strong understanding of SAN architecture and Fibre Channel, FC-FS, FCP, FC-NVMe, and NVMe over Fabrics using RoCE, TCP, and FC.
  • Understanding of SAN congestion mechanisms, including buffer-to-buffer credits.
  • Mastery of low-level diagnostics and profiling tools such as perf, ftrace, eBPF, blktrace, or crash.
  • Ability to technically steer complex projects from conception through deployment, mentor engineers, and collaborate with external technology partners.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ for kernel and driver development and Python for test automation.
