Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that protect Wise customer accounts from account takeovers.
- Develop customer-facing controls in collaboration with Product and Design.
- Work with data scientists and data analysts to improve fraud detection capabilities.
- Design and operate scalable distributed and concurrent systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Take end-to-end ownership of product-focused engineering projects and make data-driven decisions.
- Mentor and help grow more junior engineers.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications handling large amounts of traffic, ideally with React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed and concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and commitment to test-driven development and coding best practices.
- Strong product ownership, accountability, independent project leadership, and customer focus.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
- Experience mentoring and developing more junior engineers.
- Preferred: familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production.
