Responsibilities
- Own hands-on design and development of complex enterprise-scale Java applications.
- Lead technical direction for modules or subsystems while remaining actively involved in implementation.
- Modernize legacy or monolithic Java systems into modular, cloud-ready architectures.
- Develop backend and full-stack features using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and relational databases.
- Design APIs, backend services, data models, integrations, and microservices-based solutions.
- Provide robust backend APIs supporting Angular and React frontends.
- Perform performance profiling, memory analysis, JVM tuning, and production stability improvements.
- Ensure code quality through unit testing, mocking, static analysis, and strong test coverage.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, technical trade-off analysis, and design decisions.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, architecture, and global stakeholder teams through end-to-end delivery.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers across teams.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery activities, including planning, reviews, retrospectives, deployment, and maintenance.
Requirements
- MCA or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java-based software development on global or enterprise projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful API design, SQL, Angular, React, MongoDB, and AKS.
- Experience with microservices architecture, service communication, integration patterns, Hibernate/JPA, and transaction management.
- Experience with API-based, file-based, and message-based integrations; Azure Service Bus or similar experience is valuable.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud-native development, Azure DevOps, Docker, cloud platforms, and automated build and deployment practices.
- Understanding of Maven or Gradle, software design patterns, layered or hexagonal architectures, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
- Knowledge of performance profiling, memory analysis, object-oriented design, clean coding practices, and SonarQube-based static analysis.
- Experience in product development environments and understanding of product development lifecycle and Lean Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Shipping/logistics workflows or scientific data processing, genomics, or laboratory systems experience is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset.
