Responsibilities
- Own product-area architecture, solution design, target-state architecture, system designs, ADRs, design reviews, and implementation consistency.
- Define service boundaries, API contracts, integration patterns, data models, and non-functional requirements for distributed applications.
- Lead medium and large projects from architecture and design through production deployment, including status and risk reporting.
- Set technical direction, coding standards, engineering practices, and technology adoption decisions across teams.
- Design, develop, maintain, and provide reference implementations for critical .NET and React services and enterprise applications.
- Guide, train, and mentor engineers through code and design reviews, while influencing decisions across technical and business stakeholders.
- Identify systemic performance, reliability, scalability, security, and compliance risks; investigate production incidents and drive architectural fixes.
- Own the technical debt roadmap and drive modernization, testing, release stabilization, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field plus 9+ years of software application development experience, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience as a technical team lead or in an architecture role.
- Proven experience designing and delivering distributed, cloud-native systems end-to-end, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and API design.
- Expertise in .NET Framework, .NET, .NET Core, C#, SQL, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, MVC, REST API, and React.
- Strong knowledge of design patterns, domain-driven design, SOLID, scalability, resiliency, caching, messaging, data modeling, stored procedures, and query performance tuning.
- Strong experience with SQL Server and NoSQL data stores such as Cosmos DB.
- 3+ years of experience designing and running cloud-native applications on Azure or AWS/GCP, including infrastructure as a service, Docker/containers, CI/CD, and observability.
- Understanding of application security and compliance, including OWASP and PCI DSS; payments or other regulated-domain experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to drive adoption across teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, or Jira, plus 2+ years of practical Agile development experience.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, prioritization, collaboration, and influencing skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Retail or payments solution experience is preferred.
